A recording of the online webinar “Progress in Airborne Geophysical Technologies and Their Application in Hydrocarbon Exploration” is available

Dear colleagues and partners, we are pleased to announce that the full online webinar “Progress in Airborne Geophysical Technologies and Their Application in Hydrocarbon Exploration” is available on our YouTube channel.

As a reminder, the webinar took place on 25 November 2021 with the support of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).

Webinar description

Airborne geophysical survey technologies have developed rapidly in recent years. This technological breakthrough reflects advances in three main components. First, the choice of airborne platforms has expanded substantially, including through the use of uncrewed aerial vehicles.
The instrument systems used are continuously upgraded: accuracy and resolution increase, while size, weight and power consumption decrease to the point where uncrewed aerial vehicles can serve as platforms. Whereas we previously used GT-series gravimeters weighing 160 kg, a strapdown gravimeter weighing approximately 15 kg and significantly less sensitive to vertical accelerations has now successfully passed testing and is used on commercial projects.
It is now possible to carry a wide range of methods simultaneously on a single aircraft, including gravimetry, magnetometry, electromagnetic surveying, laser scanning and photography. This combination of airborne geophysical survey methods enables both exploration tasks and preparations for ground-based geological exploration to be addressed at the same time.
Software is developing rapidly in parallel, addressing an increasingly broad range of geological tasks. Some tasks are solved using machine-learning technologies. Office-based work is organised so that the processing and interpretation tools and algorithms for each individual area are selected using a tailored rather than a uniform approach.
This technological breakthrough in airborne geophysics helps optimise hydrocarbon exploration, with reduced financial expenditure being the principal benefit for subsoil licence holders.

In the webinar, we will review the modern technologies in use, including approaches to integrated interpretation, and examples of geological exploration tasks being addressed.

Everyone interested is invited to watch!
