The work was undertaken to assess the influence of the DIAM-20 uncrewed aircraft on a quantum magnetic sensor developed by JSC GNPP Aerogeofizika when rigidly mounted on a boom extending from the aircraft's nose.
Using specialised mathematical methods to account for aircraft magnetic deviation, based on readings from an auxiliary fluxgate sensor, good compensation of the measured magnetic field was achieved, effectively removing the aircraft's induced field from the observations.
This work demonstrated the feasibility of obtaining aeromagnetic data meeting the required specifications in surveys using the DIAM-20.
