Testing a new modification of a frequency-domain airborne electromagnetic system

The frequency-domain airborne electromagnetic system is widely used for both geological mapping and specific exploration objectives. In the current version of the system, the electromagnetic field source, a horizontal multiturn loop, is attached around the aircraft fuselage and is structurally compatible only with An-2 (An-3) aircraft or Mi-8-series helicopters. To broaden the range of possible carrier platforms, a modification has been developed in which the multiturn loop is mounted on a suspended platform. This allows most modern helicopters, such as the Eurocopter AS350, to be used. In addition, bringing the field source closer to the Earth's surface reduces the zone of excitation of the subsurface, thereby increasing the spatial resolution of the resulting data.
