Fieldwork completed to assess an area’s solid mineral potential

Fieldwork at 1:50,000 was successfully completed in October under a government contract to provide geophysical support for geological mapping at 1:200,000 and assess mineral potential. The geophysical suite comprised aeromagnetometry, airborne electromagnetic surveying and airborne gamma-ray spectrometry. The survey covered several 1:200,000 map sheets in Khabarovsk Krai, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Irkutsk Oblast and the Republic of Buryatia.

To optimise aviation costs at one of the survey sites, an An-3 aircraft was used in the lowland sector and a Eurocopter AS350 helicopter in the mountainous sector.
